Product Thursday
This past weekend was busy because we had a birthday party.
My girl had her party late so it coincided with Garage Sale Weekend. Did I mention that we had a garage sale? And that on Friday night the husband took one boy to a friend’s birthday party in the city. And that our daughter shot the rest of the movie on Saturday. And she had softball practice on Saturday afternoon. And our church choir performed Sunday morning.
Never again is party going to coincide with garage sale weekend.
Anyway, one of the activities I plan for her party is to decorate cupcakes. It is fun and the girls like it. But this year the girls are ten. They are too old for such nonsense. So we made dress cookies and decorated those.
We have had this kit from AmericanGirl for some time and I am always meaning to make it up. The time had come so I used a sugar cookie mix. Once the dough had chilled, I rolled it out and cutout about 14 cookies.

The dress cookie cutterI set the girls up with frosting, food coloring and sprinkles. I gave them little bowls to make colored frosting. They went to work, creating colors and using Betty Crocker markers to create even more cool designs. When the girls left, I gave them their cookies in a nice lacy patterned bag.
These dresses looked so pretty. I almost wish I was clever enough to dye fabric to make into real dresses.
What a hoot! I am copying the link and sending it to friends with girls. I sure do enjoy product Thursday. Do you take requests? I don’t remember what it was now – but earlier today, while driving, I literally thought about sending you an email suggesting a product to try out. Of course I didn’t write it down, and now I have forgotten …. ~ Lenore
I am open to suggestions. I even signed up for one of those websites that have you do reviews – not that I have done one yet. I am sure you will remember sooner or later.
I am very open to suggestions because what I have planned for next week is more of a comfort item and I want to get into more ‘new’ products.
What fun! My kids are 13 and 17–now they just run about and eat.
eat, and eat.
build bonfires, swim, eat, run around, roast hot dogs, light them on fire, eat, run around, talk, text, throw people in the lake, eat, and burn sticks.
oh, and eat.

I don’t live on a lake but a bonfire might be fun.
I should add that we are having a graduation party for the 8th grader and kindergartener next week. Will someone bring me margaritas the next day?
That’s such a cute idea! I’ve yet to have to come up with creative b-day ideas. My son’s first birthday party was planned with two goals in mind 1. Try his first cupcake ever 2. Sit and stare in wonderment at gifts he didn’t know how to open 🙂
That is the perfect party for a little guy. It is more about the guests mingling anyway at that age.
