I did it. The button was there and I did it.
Just the other week, I was tempted to click on that button to tell me how to lose belly fat quickly and effortlessly.
Another promised to tell me the three foods that makes a belly grow instead of shrink. And in the tile was a beautiful plate of corn-on-the-cob. So I did it. I directed my cursor over and clicked on it.
Bah!!! Just another 30 minutes of listening to a guy talk about his great program without giving away any details. No wait, I am wrong. He did give me the detail that his program was on sale for $39.99 and then I could find out how to turn my body into a fat-burning furnace.
There is no need for special foods or a diet or exercise. My body would lose weight once I knew the secret – his secret – to create a new me. And he talked about how all those other ‘diet’ plans only succeeded in stealing my money.
Like he isn’t trying to do the same thing with his phony little script.
I wonder if that plan works as well as the one that siphons off the fat because it cleanses your colon. Working with the acai berry, the colon cleanser performs miracles. I didn’t buy that one either. But someone else did who tried to have “The Fixer” from the Chicago Sun-Times get her money back. All she got was inches of paperwork telling her no refund was in sight.
In my quest to take inches off of my belly, I have searched articles for little tips and foods that could help in my quest. I have read many interesting but non-research based lists telling me and the world how to get rid of the bulge that makes me look as if I am pregnant when I am not.
And I do follow a couple of those crazy tips. I drink a 16 oz. bottle of cold water first thing in the morning. I found it in an article about getting a six-pack in a men’s magazine. The excuse may have that the body has to work hard to convert the cold water to body temperature.
What it does for me is to maintain a good amount of water going through and making sure I reach my goal of 64 oz per day.
The other weird thing I do is … eat fresh fruits, 6 oz. of yogurt and try for wheat bread whenever possible. That’s right, I am trying to eat healthy foods that are designed to naturally clean out the body.
I am practicing moderation - not a gobblefest - everyday. After reading stories of people who lost the weight and kept it off I have come to realize it takes effort and will power to lose the weight.
Or – in the words of Julie Haddon – Eat Less and Move More.
There is no other explanation for the three inches I have recently lost from my tummy. There is no shakes or potions or whey powder in my diet. I can see my feet again. My measurements are now 37-43-43 which is on the good side. They used to be 40-48-45.
At some point I began reading stories about the connection between big bellies and diabetes and/or heart problems. One article stated your belly should measure no more than half your height.
That meant I needed to be nearly eight feet tall in order for my tummy fat to fit my body. At this point I need to find my way to just over seven feet of
height. Sadly, I am no longer in the growing up stage of life. But the good news is after seeing those five inches disappear, three of them in the last few months, I only need eight more to do likewise.

Great post!
The trick to losing weight is the same as with a lot of other things in our lives, just do the things you know to do. Simple. There is no magic pill for weight loss. Eat less, move more. I might go so far as to say there IS a magic pill and that would be exercise. Especially once over the age of 40. Gotta move it to lose it!
Bernice
Bernice, you are so right. Execise and not filling the pie hole all of the time are the only ways to lose weight. Why don’t Americans get that instead of spending ridiculous amounts of money on amphetimine diet pills and colon cleansers?
I really appreciate this post. We will need way more people like you bringing value for the community. Can I put this post on my blog? I’d give you credit and link back of course.
Hey – I’m beginning to sift through your posts. I believe this one is related to the yogurt comment you left on my blog. Once I get to the store, I’m going to try it (even though, it’s not my favorite!). This post is dated Aug., so you may have lost more inches since then, or shrunk in height! I’m thinking: if the yogurt contributed to the belly loss, there’s probably a connection to something intestinal. I’ve also heard that a food allergy, that you may not even be aware of, can lead to a distended or bloated stomach. But, it sounds like you’re on the right track!
The yogurt is suppose to help digestion and uncloggin some of the bad stuff left in the digestive track. The L. Acidolphulus in yougurt also helps with immunity. Plus, I have found it really works on getting rid of a cold sore. Right now I am stuck at 42 inches on the waist so I am adding about 20 minutes of exercise in the morning to ‘up the ante’ so to speak.
I just found your blog today and wondered is your approach to weight loss still working for you. I love the no nonsense advice you quoted “Eat less…move more”. I need to lose some weight in the belly area for sure.
One thing I started is an interest in photography. Just an amatuer but it gets me outside, walking and looking for things to take pictures of otherwise I don’t see the point in just walking.
I have to say, yes it is. For this year I have added more movement time and working in more fresh veggies and fruit to push further. It is harder in the winter when I am inside the house all of the time. Once we get warm weather, I am out in the garden daily.
Sounds like you are a lot like me. I am inside during the winter in Minnesota and outside in the garden in the summer months. Thanks for your response.
Two words…Greek yogurt. Um num num.
I have not tried Greek yogurt. Was afraid maybe it was some fad. In truth, I am ready for the next step which is getting away from all things white.
I know what you mean. I try to stay away from white foods, too. Flour is the enemy. But plain Greek Yogurt has protein, no added sugar, and only 4 ounces with my morning fruit does a great job of holding me over till lunch. Other than that, I tend to avoid dairy products.
Flour being the enemy is so sad. I love bread.
Thanks very much for posting this, it was unbelieveably informative and helped me a lot.
Really very helpful article for me. I am impressed really reading this post.
Really great post…with a lot of wisdom in it! I’ve never been able to eat what I want, which would be glazed donuts 3x a day, but moderation in food portions and moving (a lot) does work. I’m old enough now that I accept if I eat crappy food–I’ll feel that way too. If I eat mostly healthy food, I feel much better and have more energy. My biggest life saver is to drink hot tea whenever I’m craving something I should not eat.
Oooo, I like that tip about drinking hot tea. Personally, my weight whipped up when my ex lived near Krispy Kreme Donuts. Could stop there on my way home. What a disaster. Now I try to have that stuff only once a week but it takes effort.
You’ve found the right answer, but, unfortunately, it isn’t the one most people want to hear. Eat less and exercise more. There’s simply no other way to game the system.
Three years ago, I began that exact system. I saw a picture of myself from when my family went to see “Wicked,” and I was shocked. It was then that I made the choice to change my life and take care of my body. I have Multiple Sclerosis, and I didn’t see how letting factors I could control compound a problem that I couldn’t. Weight Watchers taught me how to fix the diet, Zumba got me motivated in the gym, and I’m proud to say that I lost 100 pounds in about a year and a half and have kept it off that same length of time. It takes discipline and time, but you feel so much better when you put good things in and get good things out. Keep up the awesome work, and you will see even greater results. A hilarious but true blog!
Losing that much is a real accomplishment. Lord knows, I have not been able to do that and I am going for about 50 pounds. However, I have lost about 30 and have shed a good deal of clothing. My impetus was a family history of diabetes along with the beginning of symptoms. My goal is to get the weight down and keep it down so that my life is not ruled by what I cannot eat. I like food too much to go that route.
Thanks for stopping by.
Trying to slim our waistline is probably the toughest challenge when trying to shed a few pounds. If you’re struggling with extra pounds concentrated in your mid-section and you might think that a few crunches will be enough. Remember that a combination of a healthy low-fat diet and well designed exercise program is the best way to develop six pack abs without the risk of injury. This also ensures that you get maximum results in the shortest time frame possible. If you would like to know which abs exercise program we highly recommend. Do visit our site for E-Z rock solid abs.
Normally, I would simply delete a message like this. But I have to say doing crunches never worked for me and, quite frankly, they pissed me off. I would rather do kick boxing on my abs than ever do another sit up again. What has really worked is eating right and doing daily walks. Eat less, move more. I don’t do pills, powders or shakes. In the end, I had to learn how to be in control of what I put in my body and I would rather it be healthy foods that my body can digest. Plus, I work out in a way that suits me. I may never have a six-pack ab but at least I know I am doing it in a healthy manner.
Great progress! The diabetes threat was one of the key things that got to me a year or so ago when I got serious about losing weight – and then I helped my husband do the same. Eat less, move more – yep, that’s the weird secret
Keep adjusting those skirts!
I will, I will. Planning to make a new skirt this weekend.
